Real Estate Law

Since 1999, Basil Kollias has represented commercial, residential, and property owners and their tenants in real estate transactions and litigation throughout the state of Delaware.

Our real estate services include explanations, advice and assistance with virtually every aspect of a real estate transaction, including procuring lending and financial advice, sale or lease of properties and preparation of all closing documents. At closing, we represent purchasers and/or sellers of residential homes, second homes, investment properties, condominiums, townhouses, new construction, vacant land and all types of commercial properties. We assist in negotiating and drafting commercial and/or residential leases. We also handle both residential and commercial evictions on behalf of landlords, representing either homeowners or associations regarding compliance issues, as well as zoning, subdivision, easement and other land use matters.

Business Law

Our business law services focus on business owners and management. We look at practical solutions to current and potential legal problems with a goal to resolve your problems as quickly and inexpensively as possible, hoping to avoid litigation, and its associated costs and expenses. We understand how exciting it is to start or purchase a new business, as well as how daunting it can be. There is much planning and preparation required, and it is important to have a knowledgeable business attorney to provide you with insight into the process. We can examine your plans and offer complete and comprehensive services starting from entity selection, drafting partnership and/or operating agreements, drafting buy-sell agreements and a myriad of other services. For small family owned businesses, we can counsel you on business succession planning and protection of assets as they pass between generations, as estate planning is an important component in any business plan.

Environmental Law

In addition to his work in the legal profession, Mr. Kollias has worked in the environmental field since 1984. He has been directly involved in the cleanups of several USEPA Superfund sites throughout the northeastern United States. In 1991 he founded his own environmental consulting, construction and remediation firm located in Wilmington, Delaware and serving Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. He served as president until 2001, and as Chairman of the Board its sale in 2005.

In 2010 Mr. Kollias was appointed by Governor Markell to serve on the Recycling Public Advisory Committee.

Estates

Our estate services include assisting you in reviewing and planning your estate needs, including drafting of a will, durable power of attorney and Advanced Health Care Directive (Living Will). Our services are designed to help you plan for the future, to protect your assets and to ensure that your wishes are followed. We can also assist you in the probate and estate administration of one of your loved ones.
